A group for adults grieving the death of a loved one


A three month weekly grief group for adults beginning Wednesday, October 24th.
Wednesday evenings, 7 pm – 8:30 pm

“Why aren’t I over this yet? What’s wrong with me? When will I stop feeling like this?"

When we are grieving, we can feel invisible. Our friends, our colleagues, and even our family may expect us to grieve on their schedule, not ours. These expectations can sometime lead us into a sense of self-aggression and doubt. 

This group is a place to come and be seen, and be heard, without judgement, without timetables. It's a place to learn from other's grief journeys, and a place to come and talk about your loved one, and to honor them, with tears, or smiles, or laughter. 

Loss is one thing that every human has in common. Honoring and exploring our losses gives us the opportunity to become more deeply human, to open our hearts, and to live more deeply. 

There are different ways to process grief. Talking about your loss and hearing other’s stories is one powerful way. In addition, we will explore creative techniques and exercises such writing, discussing rituals of remembrance, and exploring mindfulness and how it can support the journey of grief. Since 2006, I have been working with bereaved individuals and groups. In 2016 I took on a leadership role with the Tragedy Assistance for Survivors, the national non-profit that offers support and programs for bereaved military families. Working with over a thousand adults and children a year across the country, I designed and implemented programming for:

  • Children grieving parents
  • Parents grieving a child
  • Spouses and fiances grieving partners
  • Families of suicide
  • Parents raising grieving children

During that time, I also had the privilege of training over 1400 active duty military personnel to accompany a grieving military child through their grief process. I ran camps and seminars, outings and special events, but my passion remains working with individuals and small groups grappling with grief.

If you are interested in joining, please email me, and we'll set up a free, 30 minute one-on-one session so you can get to know me and I can answer any questions that you might have. This group requires a commitment of three months, with three "free" absences allowed. Cost is $80/session, and a monthly statement will be provided that may be reimbursable, depending on your insurance policy (I provide the Reimbursify app to allow fast, easy filing with a smartphone).
